DigestsMonthly
Two lenses on the same calendar month. What was announced this month, and which jobs ended this month.
In June 2011, employers announced 132 layoff notices affecting 9,680 workers across 21 states in the USA, down 34% from May 2011. Separately, 12,758 jobs ended in June 2011.
How to read these numbers
Filed this month counts notices by the date they were announced. Jobs ending this month counts layoffs by the date workers actually leave. The two halves rarely match, because notices are published before the layoffs they describe take effect. Federal WARN generally requires 60 days' advance notice for covered events, but requirements, exceptions, and the dates in individual records vary.
