DigestsMonthly
Two lenses on the same calendar month. What was announced this month, and which jobs ended this month.
In June 2009, employers announced 206 layoff notices affecting 21,507 workers across 19 states in the USA, down 21% from May 2009. Separately, 14,567 jobs ended in June 2009.
How to read these numbers
Filed this month counts notices by the date they were announced. Jobs ending this month counts layoffs by the date workers actually leave. The two halves rarely match, because notices are published before the layoffs they describe take effect. Federal WARN generally requires 60 days' advance notice for covered events, but requirements, exceptions, and the dates in individual records vary.
