DigestsWeekly
Two lenses on the same seven days. What was announced this week, and which jobs ended this week.
In the week of Jul 5 – 11, 2020, employers announced 255 layoff notices affecting 57,463 workers across 24 states in the USA, down 41% from the prior week. Separately, 15,570 jobs end this week.
How to read these numbers
Filed this week counts notices by the date they were announced. Jobs ending this week counts layoffs by the date workers actually leave. The two halves rarely match, because notices are published before the layoffs they describe take effect. Federal WARN generally requires 60 days' advance notice for covered events, but requirements, exceptions, and the dates in individual records vary.
