DigestsMonthly
Two lenses on the same calendar month. What was announced this month, and which jobs ended this month.
In April 2010, employers announced 121 layoff notices affecting 17,930 workers across 20 states in the USA, down 14% from March 2010. Separately, 12,930 jobs ended in April 2010.
How to read these numbers
Filed this month counts notices by the date they were announced. Jobs ending this month counts layoffs by the date workers actually leave. The two halves rarely match, because notices are published before the layoffs they describe take effect. Federal WARN generally requires 60 days' advance notice for covered events, but requirements, exceptions, and the dates in individual records vary.
