DigestsMonthly
Two lenses on the same calendar month. What was announced this month, and which jobs ended this month.
In September 2007, employers announced 80 layoff notices affecting 11,165 workers across 11 states in the USA, down 5% from August 2007. Separately, 6,870 jobs ended in September 2007.
How to read these numbers
Filed this month counts notices by the date they were announced. Jobs ending this month counts layoffs by the date workers actually leave. The two halves rarely match, because notices are published before the layoffs they describe take effect. Federal WARN generally requires 60 days' advance notice for covered events, but requirements, exceptions, and the dates in individual records vary.
