DigestsMonthly
Two lenses on the same calendar month. What was announced this month, and which jobs ended this month.
In July 2007, employers announced 71 layoff notices affecting 9,658 workers across 12 states in the USA, up 15% from June 2007. Separately, 5,757 jobs ended in July 2007.
How to read these numbers
Filed this month counts notices by the date they were announced. Jobs ending this month counts layoffs by the date workers actually leave. The two halves rarely match, because notices are published before the layoffs they describe take effect. Federal WARN generally requires 60 days' advance notice for covered events, but requirements, exceptions, and the dates in individual records vary.
