DigestsMonthly
Two lenses on the same calendar month. What was announced this month, and which jobs ended this month.
In August 2006, employers announced 76 layoff notices affecting 6,405 workers across 11 states in the USA, down 12% from July 2006. Separately, 4,851 jobs ended in August 2006.
How to read these numbers
Filed this month counts notices by the date they were announced. Jobs ending this month counts layoffs by the date workers actually leave. The two halves rarely match, because notices are published before the layoffs they describe take effect. Federal WARN generally requires 60 days' advance notice for covered events, but requirements, exceptions, and the dates in individual records vary.
