DigestsMonthly
Two lenses on the same calendar month. What was announced this month, and which jobs ended this month.
In June 2003, employers announced 64 layoff notices affecting 6,493 workers across 8 states in the USA, down 26% from May 2003. Separately, 8,363 jobs ended in June 2003.
How to read these numbers
Filed this month counts notices by the date they were announced. Jobs ending this month counts layoffs by the date workers actually leave. The two halves rarely match, because notices are published before the layoffs they describe take effect. Federal WARN generally requires 60 days' advance notice for covered events, but requirements, exceptions, and the dates in individual records vary.
